Yep, not sure all of them do, but some certainly do, quite annoying if
you're running low!

I finally got on.
Some do cost but it goes at the start. Often the return will be greater
than the cost, except failed mission.
I haven't checked the crafting timing.

I'd suggest building a lumber mill, it's not a huge income of
resources, but it sure helps. Also go treasure/rare hunting, tons from
that, and you can get a lot of treasures in opposite faction start
zones too, I ran round in SMV this morning, got about 400 resources
there, just what I needed to put a few more buildings up. I'm now down
to 2 resources, oops, luckily there's still a fair bit of treasure
I've not found yet, hunting that down will help!

I wouldn't skip the XP missions btw, levelling your followers means
you can get good stuff from the high lvl missions. On beta I got a 645
staff from one, and I believe the highest tier of missions gives gear
equivalent to the level of raiding you're doing (or maybe even rarely
slightly higher), so getting those followers levelled is very useful
indeed, it's a big priority for me, as even an odd piece of gear is
massive when I don't raid beyond LFR - it'll at least give me a good
possibility of extra LFR lvl stuff. Right now I have missions which
offer better gear than I'm wearing (615, I'm not wearing anything over
600 other than my old cloak atm), unfortunately I don't have good
enough followers to do them lol.

I already do that. But it seems like I'm not the only one who farms
rares for resources.
But go for the treasure just west of Telodor. The reward is the
Umbrafen Spore pet from a treasure on the top of a mushroom. I had to
use a slowfall spell while mounted up to get a spot on a cliff so I
could take a leap to the mushroom. but there is a youtube flix thats
show how to get it. Quite difficult. :)
The other treasure on a platform on a top of a mountain in Spires (NW of
Axefall) seems to be inaccessible. Rumors tell its prolly an evil joke
from the blizzard team. ;)

Btw. SMV cleared. I hoped there was a little ach for getting all
treasures in a single area. I got a few resources, but not that much.

I want that but there's a small problem - I'm Horde and the only way
up that hill I can see runs through an Alliance town, I'll have to
take a scout out there to see if there's a safe path (at which point I
may as well do it on said scout and get the pet that way lol)

Hehe I still miss a few treasures in each zone I've done, bought the
maps from the vendor in Ashran (might get the addon for SMV since the
vendor only gives zones you've quested in), but there's some in lvl
100 zones (bad gear = I'm holding off on those) and some that I think
are bugged, two hardened vines in gorgrond which I already cleared are
still marked as not done. Haven't done Arak or Nagrand yet, and only
those in SMV I can find without the map, and which aren't too near
Alliance NPCs (there's one RIGHT next to a pvp-flagged fisherman in
that village by the ship landing point, doesn't seem the best of ideas
to me...)

Probably most of you guys are way ahead of me but I just picked up a
good tip from the forums for garrison resources: the Scavenger
follower trait is your friend. It increases resources gained by 200%,
that's 200% over the base, so you get three times as many resources
from those missions, if you send a Scavenger follower on them.

If RNG didn't favour you (I got none with that trait, hence not
realising it would help!), then with a lvl 2 Inn you can tell your
headhunter to find you a follower with it; I got one and was instantly
getting 90 resources from 30 resource missions which I sent him on.
Result! I'll be getting myself another one next week I think, with a
different ability so I can cover more of those missions for more
resources :-)

Oh and another follower tip: if you assign one to a building to
increase work orders, they have a higher chance of doing it if they're
higher lvl, explains why my lvl 94 JC follower wasn't doing a lot; I'm
now levelling him as a priority!

With herb garden a follower lets you chat to npc and set production,
provided the follower remains assigned, otherwise it will revert to
random. Lvl 100 makes a big difference.
Bulk herbs of your choosing.
Forge npc give you two 4 hour buffers, similar things from other followers.
Scavengers can apparently double if you have 2, 100->+200 +200 but I
haven't been able to verify that.

Unfortunately garrison and follower progression are keyed to character
level. The most useful option would have been to ignore garrison and
power up to 100 before doing much. Except maybe the barracks lvl2 with
the standard follower.

Unfortunately the game is bugs all the way down and unplayable.
Literally I have barely been able to get in to even play.
And then it is bugs bugs bugs bugs bugs.
One very small example. I finally got one char to 100, yay, celebration.
Shortly before 100 I had a quest to hand in, I go to the hand in point,
it has red npcs and the '?' npc is red.
As usual my tooltips had stopped working. The red npc didn't put me off
because there are a few parts where this is normal.
I die, pvp flagged.
Once I got tooltips back I could see they were pvp flagged, it was a
horde town and it had given me the horde quest end..duh?

So, got to 100, big celebration, hearth to garrison to upgrade.
2 minute wait, world server down.
2 minute wait, world server down.
2 minute wait, world server down.
2 minute wait, world server down.

get into garrison.
This has been normal for the last two weeks. A tour of 9 chars to do
dailies and banking should take 30 minutes, it can take 3 hours and that
is it for the day. 10-20 minutes just to switch characters, then npcs
won't talk, dis connects, another 10 minutes to get back in etc etc etc.
The actual playing is easy, where panda was hard on melee in wod they
are in heaven. First thing in a new area I go hunting skulls and apart
from a few with mechanics easily solo them then grind out until the next
are missions.
I have completed every area progress achievement except nagrand.
BUT that is by sheer persistence rather than any enjoyable flow.

Tonight I got in hours early for dailies, did 2, 4 hours later dailies
are reset and still unable to log in on any character.

We are aware of the log in issues with Oceanic realms and also the
latency for those who are already in-game. Investigation is in process.

Sub is coming up and I think I will give them a few months to sort it
out. The game is just not in a fit state to play.

Yep, I've heard of people getting over 1k resources from 3-follower
missions if they send three Scavengers on them, sounds great! Reminds
me it's a new week, time to go and recruit a fresh one, WTB massive
strike or group dmg counter, those seem to appear most often on
resource missions and my scavengers can't counter them!

I'm surprised, it seemed like the worst of the bugs were fixed after
the first week; in fact, my (very full) server is now much *better*
than it's been for years, thanks to the raised population cap and
phasing to spread people out - I have to go back to Wrath days to
remember a time when I could log in at peak hours without a queue, or
do new solo content without hating every other player in the area due
to overcamping, this is just amazing for me! I'm frankly now thinking
the week of unplayability was a small price to pay, if it makes my
server so much better the rest of the time, it's like moving to a
medium pop server without having to actually move and lose touch with
friends :-D

Heh, now that is weird! haven't hit one of those yet, although I don't
much like the new quest tracker system where it doesn't bother telling
you where to go to handin, which is very annoying when the stupid NPC
moved and you go back to where you got the quest from. A lot of us
said this on beta, didn't get changed, I guess it's just how they want
it to be, sigh.

Jeez, that's incredible, it was like that for us the first week but
that's totally fixed now, your server must be way unlucky :-/ I

We get the same updates at the same time.
We lose every Tuesday evening, lost most of Monday and now lost
Wednesday. Sunday was kind of okay, so finished to 100.
After many hours I finally got in at 11:45 having lost the profession
dailies.
Instance restart in 3:00
Server restart in 15:00
spitspitspitspitspit
Cancelled all auctions, cleaned out the ah mail , which is not much since
I can't do fast scan since wod. 45 minutes for a full ah scan is next to
useless.
And that is about it for today and quite a while. I still didn't get to
check the 2 scavenger missions.Hopefully they will not timeout or
something before the next time.

One scavenger was bringing in several hundred a day if you cycle the
missions quickly, I have 2 50% time+35%xp bonus and now 2 scavengers on
that char (100) which should be lucrative for gr and xp.
That character had a nice selection of counters so 75-90% scavenger
missions were common.
I was going to see if the inn time was fixed or renewed if you build a
new one. Probably not but gr to burn on that char. That can now wait.

I don't think a lvl3 mine is worth while, I had 6 lvl 2.
Maybe there are some special fish in the lvl3 mine lake but otherwise
there is already a glut of work orders waiting.
It really annoyed me I could not have 2 or 3 forges and engineering
works, I had built up several thousand ore to feed them, hoping it would
overcome the loss of all those dailies. sigh

If you use a lot of ore, it's great, if not, not worthwhile. There are
some fish catchable in the lake that turn you into a pale orc or
something, not a big deal really.

Yeah, everything's locked to cds now, I miss the old way of doing
professions. In fairness they just changed the mats on levelling items
to not use cd-based mats, but that's a bit late when I'm maxed now.
Will be handy for alts, I guess, I might actually wear crafted gear
for levelling now, too, wasn't worth wasting daily cd-based mats on
something that'd last 5 lvls!

Oh well, good to know at least!

Currently banging my head off a brick wall trying to convince
TradeSkillMaster to calculate crafting costs for the new ink for
inscription - it happily calculates all the old inks, but not the new
one and I have no idea why (it's supposedly using the same price
calculation system, when I check). Wtb a similar addon which doesn't
require a degree in programming to make it just tell you what's worth
crafting, argh.... on the plus side, the reduction in gems this
expansion means I've ditched TSM on my jewelcrafter and now only need
it for inscription and enchanting, how I wish they were less
complicated.

Haha ok, so even with the new very much raised population cap, we
still had a queue last night, I guess first night of
raiding/worldbosses was a bit popular ;-) Only 600 at peak though, and
it moved fast enough, so not that bad :-)

Hehe only one for followers you *really* don't like though ;-)

I got the Dance Studio mission last night, a funny one, with a bonus
of making a follower potentially counter three abilities:
http://www.wowhead.com/mission=329 - the reward teaches a follower a
trait which counters Danger Zones (lower chance than a main ability,
but still useful); being a trait, not an ability, it can go alongside
two other abilities on an epic follower, useful!

Word of warning, if you get that manual, make sure the follower you
use it on does not have a trait you don't want to lose - it removes a
random trait! It cannot remove Bodyguard, so I used it on a bodyguard
with the trait which increases success chance when grouped with a
pandaren (Horde don't get pandaren followers except through the inn,
so it's almost useless), and luckily it picked that one to replace
rather than whatever my 3rd one was, perfect!

Best mission I've seen so far. Cleaning the Latrine. 100% guaranteed
win/win no matter which char you use. 50 exp + 100 bonus exp.
Time: 5 mins. :)
Hehe only one for followers you *really* don't like though ;-)
I got the Dance Studio mission last night, a funny one, with a bonus
http://www.wowhead.com/mission=329 - the reward teaches a follower a
trait which counters Danger Zones (lower chance than a main ability,
but still useful); being a trait, not an ability, it can go alongside
two other abilities on an epic follower, useful!

Thank you! I just got access to it a minute ago and now I'm looking at
my followers. =)
