Most Efficient Method to Obtain Arcane Dust?
(too old to reply)

Options I see -

1. Buy from AH

2. Buy from vendor at Keepers of Time

3. Farm greens and have enchanter friend disenchant, probably farmed
during dungeon runs

4. Buy the greens from the AH and have enchanter friend disenchant

Did I miss anything?

Need a lot of Arcane Dust for enchanted making adamantite pieces for
my level 70 warrior.

:) I'm going to need a lot of Arcane Dust too for my priest to level
up tailoring. What rep do you need to buy them from the KoT, how much
do they cost and how limited is the supply?

my main is enchanter and i have no problems with arcane dust.
usually when i want to enchant something for myself or alts its Greater
Planar Essence i have problems disenchanting. i have very bad luck baout
that.

everytime i find a green weapon i think yeah ill get one of these essences,
but alot of times it turns out i'm unlucky and it turns disenchants into a
large prismatic shard :(

i think i have about 200-300 arcane dust on my bank alt 30+ large prismatic
shards 15 void chrystals but only 1 Greater Planar Essence :((

<-- needs a hug xD

I don't think they can be bought at KoT. It was likely an error on
Thottbot that showed it that way.

5.Use a crafting profession to make useless high-level greens, then shard
them.
This is often most cost-effective with a tailor, so you could farm cloth.

arcane dust is cheap.. just buy it, don't waste the effort farming or
crafting to de to get it, look for deals on teh ah and just stockpile
it, I have stacks and stacks of every enchanting item one would need,
i.e. prismatic shards, void crystals, arcane dust, primals, nethers,
just run a bunch of heroics and buy cheap stuff on the ah, so when the
time comes you have plenty, and your banked money doesn't go down.
Basic concept is collect slowly over a long period of time, not going
and spending 200-300 g for an enchant, just save the main mats from
collecting them and buying cheap.

I need them faster than that though :)

I'm level 67 now and I want to craft the primal mooncloth set when I
get to 70. I'm about 293 tailoring so I need to do some grinding to
get my skill up in time for 70.

Maybe some of the items that I'll make to get to the point where I'll
need arcane dust will give me some arcane dust but I'm sure I won't
get the 180 or so that I'll need to get to 375.

well. my cousin rolled a warlock recently, got to level 70 in about 3
weeks, saved all his money, got tailoring up to 375, didnt buy a
flying mount, and crafted all the epics by the time he dinged 70. It
can be done, just put in 15 + hr days and know what your doing.
( check him out on armory "barnyard" ) char was rolled in late
september. So your right it doesn't take forever, but I had/have alot
of expenses and once you get everything you need its pretty much a
saving game, I like having a large networth :D search "fairplay,
priest" you see I don't really need to spend money on anything, tho i
want to craft the engineering mounts here soon in 2.3.

Easy enough there, don't buy the netherweave to get those skillups, farm
it, and get someone to de the greens that drop while you farm (plus the
ones you make for skillups), and it'll come fairly even; you may be short
of a few dust, but not that many.

I'm following a guide on how to power level tailoring as cheaply as
possible that relies on you to make cloth as soon as you can for as
long as you can still get skillups. Because of this, I needed the
arcane dust to make the imbued netherweave before I could make
anything anything else so I bought a load of the AH (not all I need).
Fortunatley I found a load at between 60% and 80% of normal price on
the AH and bought it all out. That got me through all the skillups
from imbued netherweave.

I've kept a running total of the costs and it has cost me 333g to get
from 0 to 346 so far. My main is a 70 druid who very rarely uses
bandages and has never sold a piece of netherweave - just horded it
and occaisionally passed some on to friends when they needed it. This
meant that I had 1000 pieces for my tailor to skillup on and reduced
the cost and time a lot.

I've run out of netherweave now and I'm running low on funds so I'm
going to have to go out and farm the rest. I don't want to buy it
from the AH because that would mean that I couldn't buy my flying
mount when this alt reaches 70. (67 now) I think that I'll use my
Druid to farm netherweave, greens (for arcane dust) and Scryer's rep
all at the same time as someone else in the thread suggested.

That's what I did with my warlock for a while, got his tailoring to 368 by
the time I was Scryers exalted but I'm just going back to the same farming
spot, and saving the rep drops, may well transfer them to horde for my
undead priest seeing as he's Scryers now. Still only 370 on the warlock's
tailoring, I got a bit bored of farming cloth but I don't want to start
buying cloth as I'm still 2k gold off my epic gryph (well, could just take
money off alts but if I actually get around to finishing my quests off I
rather think this character will be able to earn it all on his own)

My brother's warrior switched from mining to enchanting at 70, and the
rest of the guild helped him level it by sending him greens that
dropped. He also farmed low level isntances for the easy loot there
to DE.

But now, hes got his enchanting maxed out, so when I play and get
green drops, I mail them to him with DE as the subject line, and he
mails me back whatever they DE to.

Huh? KoT vendors sell arcane dust? If you're seeing this on thottbot, I bet
it says limited(11). Corrupted data.

Any outland green will give you arcane dust (among other things).

4. Buy the greens from the AH and have enchanter friend disenchant
These days, crap greens don't tend to end up on the AH. The ones you see
are the saleable ones, and they'll go for as much or more than the net
dust. There's always dummies though.

The only way to get arcane dust is via disenchanting. *

Probably limited, but not necessarily corrupted. I was able to buy a
few motes of shadow or something from a vendor near the Shadow Labs
once.

Ally yourself with an enchanter/tailor. Many have that combination, likely
you already have one in your guild.

Have him make and DE Netherweave Bracers. To make one pair of Netherweave
Bracer this is needed:

-18 Netherweave Cloth (Easy to farm, I prefer Scryer/Aldor mobs due to rep
items I can profit on)
-Rune Thread (buy at a Trade Vendor)

Netherweave Bracers yields 2-4 Arcane Dusts in my experience almost every
time.

Not a bad idea.

Actually I have stacks and stacks of netherweave on my wife's
auctioner.
