Discussion:
New Fishing Dailies
(too old to reply)

I've been doing the fishing dailies almost every day since the patch.
So far, I've gotten the rum recipe, a ton of hooks, and a good stack
of water walking elixir's.

The weird thing is I keep getting Crocolisks in the City. I've done
Bait Thieves (catch a blackfin darter) twice, Shrimpin' Ain't Easy
(get 20 shrimp from bloated fish in Zangarmarsh) once, and the one to
catch some fel fish from HFP, Nagrand, or SMV once. Thats a total of
4, out of the 15 days since the patch, dailies that were not
crocolisks in the city. One day it took me over 40 catches in Org
before catching a crocolisk, caught Old Crafty during that one.

I can't look at El's Anglin right now, but aren't there supposed to be
more than 4 possible quests? And has any other realm experienced an
apparent bias towards the crocolisk quest being the daily?

Its not a totally bad thing, the baby crocolisk pet obtainable via the
fishing quest is, presumably according to El's, only available after
doing the crocolisk in the city quest. So the more times that quest
is available, the better the chances of getting the pet.

There are five total: "Bait Bandits", "Crocolisks in the City",
"Felblood Fillet", "The One That Got Away", and "Shrimpin' Ain't
Easy".

I've actually only receievd the Crocolisks quest twice; the one I get
most often is "The One That Got Away" - I seem to find myself fishing
in Nagrand more than anywhere else. "Shrimpin' Ain't Easy" I've
received exactly once.

(I forgot that the pets are only available after the Crockolisks
quest. Every day I open my Bag of Fishing Treasures hopefully - must
remember to only be hopeful after the Crockolisk quest.)

I've not yet gotten "Felblood Fillet" or "Shrimpin' Ain't Easy". Like you,
I'm in Nagrand pretty darned often, and have visited Stormwind a few times.
(No pet for me, either, as yet.)

So the baby crocolisk pet is a random drop from the bags you get after
finishing the fishing quests - but only after you do the crocolisk quest? I
thought you just got it after finishing the croc quest... I got mine from
the loot bag I received for finishing that quest. Why couldn't I have been
that lucky with the Wrathtide Longbow drop? sheesh!

Yep it's random, I've done the croc quest twice and not had it... we've got
it again today, see if I'm more lucky this time!

I've gotten Shrimpin' exactly once, the croc once, the Terokkar one twice
and spent about an equal time fishing HFP and Nagrand (about 5 times each).

Drowning in fish hooks, got the +3 fishing line and the rum plus some junk.
Never takes me more than 10-12 catches to get all the stuff needed. Finally
a reward for having grinded to 375 on my main :-)

The good thing is, that I can usually fit it nicely into my rotation of
doing the SSO and cooking dailies.

Cheers

Lol I should've downloaded new posts before starting my new thread, oops
:-) Seem to get them all fairly equally over a period of time, though only
had HFP twice and crocs 3 times I think.

Like you I'm drowning in fish hooks, get miles more than I can use up, but
at least they're useful! Got the line a while back and had the gem once,
plus a couple of shadow pearls, but nothing else special until today, when
it decided to give me 3 blues at one go :-O Very nice luck indeed, I've
wanted the pet ever since I heard about it, the hat's handy for free lures
(even if I already have more fish hooks than I can use, but hey ;-)) and
the 15 sta gem will sell nicely too!

Interestingly with all the things I have had out of it I've never seen the
nice white items which I've heard of as being good for dressing up
characters with; I've got a belf bank alt who I think would look pretty
cool with a monocle etc but no luck yet, maybe one day!

Blue hat with sta and spirit, equip +5 fishing and use gives 75 fishing
lure on your fishing pole, 10 mins cd, so basically a reusable +75 lure :-)

I'm not usually but been thinking for a bit that my belf would look quite

need to quest more on my 46 shammy and get some spare mageweave ;-)

Hm, this would effectively free a bag slot that now holds my lures? Sounds
very cool. Though I wouldn't know what to do with all the hooks even more
:-)

This is something I noticed for the first time when skilling up tailoring:
Unlike my other production professions (alchemy, jewelcrafting (stuck at
361) and enchanting (stuck at 365 need more CE rep)) there are "sets" even
on the lower level things you can tailor that actually look really cool :-)

Not being someone who's ever had a full set of anything, I new that the
dungeon sets (and probably PvP I guess) "match" but I never even paused to
think that the intermediate levels would offer optically matching sets of
stuff that one might want to put on a bank char despite a lack of cool set
boni to stats^^

I've gotten the rum recipe, an ornate drinking stein, a plethora of
hooks and a few water walking elixirs. I haven't been doing the quest
with great frequency, but I've had "Shrimpin" and "The One" 2-3 times
each. "Bait" and "Felblood" once each, and have never seen the
"Crocolisk" quest. On the Feathermoon: US server.

Dailies seem a bit weird, as we had a run of about a weeks worth of
"Spiritual Soup" cooking quests somewhere around patch time.

I did the cooking dailies for a month before I ever got spiritual
soup. Seems nagrand daily cooking and fishing quests aren't too
common on my server, as since the release of the patch, I have yet to
see the one.

I've got more fishhooks than I know what to do with and the rum recipe.
Today I got a Gold wedding band which is just junk unless you want to
wear it with the white wedding dress, I suppose. It vendors for 15G
though. :-)

You have to fish in one of the **lakes** in Nagrand for that one. You're
not going to catch it in a river. I never have had any trouble getting that
one in under 5 minutes -- and usually under 3.

I've been doing these dailies also. After seeming to get
"Shrimping..." a lot early on, it seems to have evened out a bit,
though the last two I've done have been the baby croc.

I've received most of the rewards listed, as well as some silk fishing
line (+3 fishing). I received the Gold Wedding band yesterday, which
would have gone with the silver cufflinks I received earlier, I
suppose. :)

I didn't even know about the baby croc pet. I'm sure I read it in the
notes but went over my head.

I've also read that if you are fishing near the Horde town, you need
to make sure you get sufficiently far away that the sub-zone name
changes from the town name to Nagrand or Lake Whatever or some such.

I heard there was a bit of a trick to this quest, that you had to
stand in places where your minimap said you were in Nagrand, and not
in some other place such as Garadar. Just north of Garadar there is
one of the lakes you can fish for this quest, but if you stand on the
shore line you have a chance to be located in Garadar and thus, never
catch the fish.

Since the fishing quest also has a chance to reward some water walking
elixirs, it should be easy to pop one of those and walk out into the
lake, avoiding the problem of your actual location.

So far I have not seen any use for them. Need to try this.

Jup, you can :)
You can also fish while using the shaman water walking buff. This is
pretty cool as it allows you to fish in some places where it otherwise
can be difficult to fish.

In fact, fishing while standing on water was required for part
of the AQ gate quest series, where you had to fish the swirling
maelstrom in the bay of storms in azshara.

You can also fish while standing on water if you get the ghost
form from hallow's end candy.

You have to stand in a place where the lake's name shows on your location
bar, such as "Lake Sunspring". If your bar says something different, like
"Nagrand", or "Throne of the elements", you may not get the fish.

When I get this quest, I always do it in the southwest corner of nagrand,
in a little isolated piece of lake sunspring shoreline. I've gotten it in 2
casts, and I've gotten it after using up a fishing hook and a half. *

No, you have to be where the minimap says "lake".
Lake Sunspring or Skysong Lake.

And technically, that's where your CAST has to be, so try
not to be right near a border.
