Hey all.

Yesterday i ground out to 300 alchemy on my alt and im debating the
greater fire protection potion. Now i know most raid groups covet this
for its uber fire absorption (a la Molten Core) but im curious how
other alchamists would describe its money making power.

It runs for about 200g (the recipe) on the AH on my server. Do
alchamists out there thing i could make a decent return on investment
if i were to buy it?

Other than that what can i make the "phat lewt" on. I bought Arcane
Transmute... so i got that going for me.... which is nice. But its a
bit limited since i can only use it every couple days. Looking for
other suggestions.

Hey Areric,

As a 300 herb/aclh I have not found greater fire protection pots to be
very profitable. Farming the mats in Un'Goro is hard. I think the low
sell price come from most guilds running MC already having members that
can make this pot. Buying the mats in the AH really cuts into your
profit margin.

Their are a lot of other potions that are easier to make that have a
much higher profit margin.

Just my 2 cents.

Elemental Fire drops by the truckload in Molten Core - so if you are
where you need great amounts of the pots, you pretty much also got
that half of the ingredients.

The big money maker here is being a herbalist and selling Dreamfoil -
take a look at Thottbot <http://www.thottbot.com/?i=5192> and see what
you need that herb for, and you can see why it sells pretty much like
hotcakes.

So basically what im gathering is that the flasks are a better deal in
terms of making money. If i can get the recipe for flask of supreme
powerr i can prolly make a nice chunk of change.

I bought major health last night. Super nice recipe to have but not a
big money maker. I think i can make like 1-2g per stack profit....
assuming the potion sells.

ill check your link when i get home simon, unfortunatly thott is
blocked where i work.

Well, I can tell you that me and my guildmates consume enormous
quantities of Greater Fire Prot Pots - but I doubt that any of us have
ever paid anyone to make one. I certainly never have. We have a few
people in-guild with the recipe, and I would guess that every other
raiding guild does too.

Also.. a recipe like that, which drops from a fixed and known mob
(Firebrand Invokers and Pyromancers in LBRS), I can't imagine paying
hundreds of gold for rather than farming the instance for it.. but your
mileage may vary..

Cheers!

20 Dreamfoil max 15g
20 Elemental Fire max 20g
20 Crystal Vials 1g
Total Cost max 36g

5 Greater Fire Ressistance Potions - 10g - 15g (varies)
x4
Total Profit 40g - 60g

I usually buy the ingredients for like 25g total, and sell it for 50g
I sell 2-8 stacks of 5 per night

Looks like Moneymaker :)

Well like someone else has already said, most guilds that use a lot of
these potions also have people in guild that make them by the truckload
as well so its possible for the time invested farming you might not
make much profit. You might be better off just selling the dreamfoil in
the AH.

You might actually be able to make money off the flasks of supreme
power though.

Flasks of supreme power are a required component in the final stage of
the tier .5 armor quest chain. I'd imagine that most casual players
doing the quest chain wont have the flask recipe, so buying one is the
quickest option. A guildmate of mine is selling them for 85g each and
they've been selling well.

Again, the time invested to profit ratio might not be the greatest here
because each flask requires a black lotus, which can take some time to
find if you are farming them. If you are on a server where you can by
black lotus for 10g each or so, by them farm the dreamfoil and mountain
silversage and you are probably in business.
