Horde Hunter Help

As an Alliance player, out of boredom a few weeks ago I went to
another server and rolled a Troll Hunter. I'm really enjoying Horde
for whatever reason.

At any rate, my Hunter tamed a Boar, whom she just adores. I'd like to
upgrade his Charge skill. By Googling, I see that Charge lvl 2 can be
learned from Boars in Redridge Mountains and Westfall. Lvl 3 can be
learned from creatures in Razorfen Kraul, or Bellygrub in Redridge
Mountains. There is no lvl 4, and lvl 5 is taught by an Ashmane Boar
in the Blasted Lands, quite a ways away for my lvl 29 Hunter.

I'm not at all familiar with Horde town locations, so I'm a little
confused how I'm supposed to get to these places. I can't see myself
striding solo into an instance, which leaves the others. The only way
I can think is to run up STV from Booty Bay? Should be a piece of cake
for a 29 pet-less Hunter. :P

I don't think Duskwood or Westfall should pose too much of a problem
if i can avoid the patrolling guards. Same with Bellygrub, if I just
try and stay away from Lakeridge.

Is there an easier way to do this?

I also seem to be under the impression that all Ally NPCs will attack
me on sight. Is that wrong? I don't mind defending myself, but I'd
rather not be PvP-flagged.

Go outside the Orgrimmar main gates, and take an immediate left.
Follow that wall until you come to a Zepplin tower. Now, get on the
zepplin CLOSEST to Orgrimmar. This will take you to Grom'gol.

The easiest way to do this (longer, but easier due to your low lvl
agro range), would be to head west out into the water about 100-200
yards. The parralel the coast NORTH. Go all the way into the next
map. This will be Westfall. From here, you will be familiar with the
area. You can made landfall around the lighthouse.

If you are on a PvP server, this will flag you. Stay away from
Sentinel Hill and you shouldn't have any NPC guards to worry about.

Good LUCK!!!

Thanks for this. I'm still trying to get used to these zeppelins, and
where they go.

I don't mind swimming (my then-lvl 10 Draenei Shaman once swam from
Menethil Harbor to Westfall), and I know you can swim past the
Bloodsail dudes and raptors, but I wasn't sure how I'd do at the Vile
Reef. I've only had one char who was there once, but I couldn't
remember how close to the surface those elite Murlocs are.

You don't need to be pet-less. Stable your current pet, and go out
and tame a new temporary pet (of your level if possible). Take this
pet with you (and don't forget to bring food) as a companion until
you see bellygrub. And then, abandon it.

From Orgrimmar to Redridge:
- Take the Zepellin from Orgrimmar to Grom'Gol (the goblin at the
zeppelin will tell you which zepellin travelles where)
- At grom gol, follow the roads north. You can't miss much here.
Just stay on the roads and you should be safe. If not, you still
have feign death.
- Now you're in dustwood (which you should know from your alliance
times). Leave this zone to the northeast (don't stumble into
deadwind pass though), but avoid the alliance town.

There you are in redridge.

Don't think so. It will be easy enough like this, just imagine you
were on a pvp server :-)

Yes. If I was you I'd assume they did, though :-) But some civilians
or quest NPCs will not attack you until you attack them.

Then just don't hit them back (no slowing traps or other stuff
neither) and you should be fine.

Good luck and enjoy the trip.

<nitpick>
he is level 29, if I recall correctly, I got feign death at level 30,
could be wrong, though...

Other than that, fair advice.

Once you get to redridge, make sure you approach Bellygrub from around the
lake, as you won't want to pass through Lakeshire :)

Thank you so much for writing this out for me. I followed your advice
exactly. Worked like a charm, and was way easier than I expected.

I did some things wrong (stabled my pet at Grom'Gol, then I realized I
wasn't sure where to get a pet my level, so ended up flying to BB,
boating to Ratchet and flying to Freewind Post, then having to fly
back, but whatever).

I was sure I'd aggro all the Raptors from Grom'Gol to the main STV
road, but not one of them attacked. Just one Panther on the road, but
that was to be expected. Those things aggro from Ironforge.

Ran and ran to Redridge, tracking humanoids (and got quite a bit of XP
from exploring, too! :D), avoided Guard Parker, and there was
Bellygrub.

Did not expect to play the Waiting Game. :-)

No sooner had I gotten there than a NE hunter killed Bellygrub. So I
sat and waited. Next time Bellygrub spawned I attempted Taming him,
but it failed (never got a message though, I thought there was a
message?), so I Froze him and ran. When I got back some other Ally
char was killing him. So I waited some more. Lots of Ally chars went
by, and no one paid any attention at all to the Troll sitting on a
rock. A few minutes later, Bellygrub respawned, and this time Taming
worked.

As a side note, I'd forgotten how hard that guy hits. My Hunter was
lvl 30, so Bellygrub was 6 levels below her, and despite the fact that
I Well Fed her, had her drink a Rumsey Rum Light (total of +11
Stamina, I think), and also given her a Scroll of Protection, he
hurt. :-)

Thanks. I actually did. A side bonus was Bellygrub also teaches Gore
lvl 4. I'd been looking for that!

Anyway, I fought. Bellygrub fought. We fought in harmony. I learned
Charge lvl 3 and Gore lvl 4. I took a screenie, bade Bellygrub a fond
farewell, and ran to go unstable my pet. /hello, /hug, /pat, Snouticus
shook his little rear at me (it's his greeting), and off we were for
more adventuring!

Thank you for the very helpful advice.

My Dranei hunter tamed Bellygrub yesterday as well! As Alliance, I had
the advantages of local flight points, as well as a Stable Master right
there in town. :-)

I had thought Bellygrub was elite, so I was expecting to need some help,
but I got lucky and tamed her (it is a her, right?) first try. Then a
nice (and cute) pally healed us both!

I'm getting worried about the amount of time I've been playing my
hunter, though. Last night, I had WoW dreams (which hasn't happened
since when I first got the game). I dreamt I went to UnGoro with my
hunter and tamed a rare spawn gorilla, but had to abandon my pet to do
so. I had meant to abandon Bellygrub, but abandoned my beloved Spot (a
snow leopard) instead!

Anyway, Bellygrub will be my tanking pet, until I get big enough to tame
a turtle!

neithskye, may I recommend you check out Fizzwidget's Hunter's Helper?
http://fizzwidget.com/2007/01/15/gfw-huntershelper-2-0-2/

Next time you need to know where to find a skill for your pet you can
do it from in-game. Heck, your tooltip will tell you if there's a
skill on that nearby mob that you can learn. (Color coded by learned
already-grey, learnable-green, or can't learn yet-red.)

A fairly simple slash command will help you locate the skill you need
and tell you what mob in what zone (usually lists mobs in the zones
nearest to you) has it, and what levels they are (also color coded).

I highly recommend this addon to all Hunters.

to hit pretty hard to me. At any rate, I certainly can't complain

Heh, yeah cats are the DPS machines, but I think really the differences
are so slight that it doesn't even matter. It's probably best just to
choose a pet that you like and feel comfortable using. You do most of
the DPS anyway.

At level 30 you get Feign Death, which makes it easier, though not
automatic, to get to an armored boar in RFK. There are guides
available on solo'ing your way to a boar for this instance. You could
also group for the instance. As Alliance, I got two quests for that
instance, as Horde I'd think there'd be a lot more than that...

You do not have to be petless, stable your pet, tame a trashpet on the
way, one you can use for distraction of whatever comes in your way,
remember to teach it growl.

Bellygrub is not that hard to get to, I did it at lvl 25, run through
Duskwood, just be carefull at the t-section, theres some ally npc's
there, run in other side. Run to lake cross lake, stay at lake run to
redridge, do a big run around the town to get to Bellygrub, tame, hs.

On the way to duskwood just try to run opposite of any npc you meet,
use tracking to get a heads up.

Thank you for your reply. I'm really not sure why, especially since
I'm on a PvE server, but I really expected to be chased to Redridge by
a mob of 50 angry humans. I'm really not sure why I thought this.

I'm afraid not, although it was simple enough on my PvE server. I had
to even go back and do it again because after taming the Westfall boar
and learning Charge 2, I abandoned him and hearthed home. When I got
home the skill was erased from the skillbook, so back I trudged.
Charge was always buggy to learn. At one point my boar was reteaching
*me* Charge that I had already taught him, but then it dropped from my
skillbook.

Solo-tamed a RFK boar for Charge 3 at the appropriate level as well.
:) Invisibility pots, engineering trinket, Aspect of the Cheetah, and
Feign Death ftw!
