Problem equipping thrown weapons with a hunter

My character is a hunter and just learned thrown weapons from a weapon
master, but whenever I equipping a throwing axe or knife and try to use
auto-shoot or any other ranged attack option I get a message saying I must
have a ranged weapon equipped. Is this a bug or what?

You might have fallen over on the same thing I did!

Drag the throw "ability" onto the hotbar into the slot you want to use to
attack, and drag the throwable "weapon" onto the ranged slot on the
character screen.

No, it's not a bug. The throwing skill is completely different from your
ranged attacks, it's one actually called 'Throw' I believe. It should be a
new button on your Spells and Skills window that you'll need to drag to one
of your hotbutton bars. As far as I know (and I could be way off-base here),
you can't use both throw and ranged at the same time since there needs to be
an icon for either your weapon ammo or your thrown weapons in the lower left
slot of your character screen. If I'm wrong in this, please someone correct
me. :)

Why would a hunter use thrown weapons? Guns and Bows are the only way to go!

"Shoot" shoots arrows, guns or other "shooting" weapons.

"Throw" throws thrown weapons.

Look at your "P" screen for the new "throw" ability. Put it on your
command bar, somewhere.

No hunter abilities (including auto-shot) work with thrown weapons.

Get a (cross)bow or a gun.
