Discussion:
Dumb targetting question.

On my pally, if I'm running towards a mob, and it's the nearest, an instant
cast will target that mob automatically.

On my (newer) lock, this doesn't happen; I have to manually target the
mob. This really slows down both tagging, and dealing with groups of
mobs one at a time.

I'm SURE there's some very obvious setting I'm missing. Anyone know
what it is?

I think it's the difference between being melee and being a caster -
all my melee characters do the auto target thing, my casters don't.
Hybrids like a pally, probably mainly go with the melee option,
especially if you're ret/prot, although, quite possibly some ranged
spells won't.

I think it's much like whether you start swinging your weapons on
casting the spell or not; on my deathknight, my strikes all start my
autoattack (including Icy Touch, which is ranged), but Death Coil
doesn't, I guess that's classed as a spell then!

/targetenemy targets the nearest target. So macro this to a button or
just use TAB.

on all my toons I macro an instant spell for 'farming' , doesn't matter what
it is, just anything that tags a nearby target and has a rapid cooldown and
put that macro in place of my usual spell on my spell bar

for my mage
/targetenemy [combat, noexists]
/Cast FrostboltI also have the arcane barrage spell set as a macro as well.
