Hola

Anybody in this group that can recommend a good place to catch
subject?

I've been travelling a bit, and I have not come across a good spot to
catch those. All I get is a few at a slow rate.

Deadwind Pass, nighttime. Get there from Darkshire (if Alliance)
or Stonard (if Horde). You can probably jump down to the river
and survive (to avoid the level 55 vulture to get to the north
end of the river), then fish anywhere. You can also sell lightning
eel and plated armorfish for the writ quests for pretty good
money. Almost nobody goes there, the town instance isn't open.

Lake outside scholo. No mobs spawn there.
Also make sure to do it after midnight, else you will get your spawn table
corrupted with sunscale salmon. (they are placeholders for each other)

Moonglade works to.

I usually did it in Feralas at the lake at the Horde camp or at the river.
Be aware of the daytime rhythm of the Nightfin:
none from noon - 6
not bad from 6 to midnight
good from midnight to 6 in the morning
still catching from 6 to noon

If you get Sunscale Salmon, cook them and give them to a warrior/rogue
or warlock.

Since some weeks you can also get Winter Squid there, highly popular
with hunters, rogues and everyone else who wants Agi.

I use the lake in Winterspring. According to Thott it has the highest
drop.

The time of the day is more important than anything else. I fish at
12am server and 40-50% of my catches are Nightfin.

As far as I can tell there are 4 phases, dawn, day, dusk, night.

During dawn and dusk you can get both Nightfin and Sunscale but at a
greatly reduced rate. During the day you can only get Suncale and at
night only Nightfin.

In the pools in front of Stratholme, I think. I may also have caught one or
two in Un'Goro. *
