Discussion:
My hunter gets almost all quest rewards with +Int

I wrote about this in an earlier post but thought it was drops from Rares.
However, I've now paid a bit of attention. I was under the impression that
quest rewards should fit your class and spec, isn't this the case?

The last four or five quest rewards my hunter got were all called
"Rangari Initiate Xxxx" and their stats are all +Agi, +Sta, +Int.
The Int is totally useless to my hunter.

Is this a bug? Or is this intended?

I'm pretty confused by this.

Cheers

Intended. It's so the item will be useful to any mail-wearer. Hunters
and enhance shamans ignore the +Int, and resto/elemental shamans ignore
the +Agi.

In other words, it has +Agi. What's your beef? :-)

That makes sense I guess.

Wasted item budget. They could have added +106agi instead of +53agi/+53int
:-)

No beef really. Just confused. In the end I decided it was an upgrade, so I
equipped it, despite the +int. There was a time when I would have loved to
get such items, back when hunters still needed mana instead of energy...

Gear is much more generic
Stats don't work the way they used to
You aren't being short-changed , any more than everyone, by having
useless stats on gear.

Most warrior plate drops and rewards have grey +int stats as well.

The Int will show as greyed out for you - all quest rewards/instance
drops now have all major stats which could be used by that armor
class, to make it useful to all specs - for example, if all plate has
both int and str on it, there's no more cursing all those int drops in
a group without a holy paladin! You get the agi and just ignore the
int, basically, unless you're an enh shammy with a resto/ele offspec,
in which case you're happy that you don't need to get a second piece
of gear when you switch spec!

What about healing specs? I dont see any spirit on those gear items
with agi/int.

Spirit is a minor stat, not a major one; those don't change with spec.
It's also only on rings/necks/trinkets/cloaks and the like, which
don't switch any stats with spec, only the major armour pieces do
that. Spirit and armour are the role-specific stats only on some
pieces, which is frankly annoying, since it reduces the chances of
getting items with it on!

So mana spirit-based regen belongs to the past now?

Nope, you just have fewer opportunites to get it - on the flipside you
have plenty to begin with by default (they increased base regen a
lot), so if you don't get spirit items, you can still cope ok. I've
got I think 3 spirit items (one being my legendary cloak which really
should be replaced soon!), struggle a bit on aoe healing in long
fights, but otherwise seems fine, thankfully.

I really miss reforging though, wish that hadn't been removed. Keep
getting items where the secondary stats aren't great, but would be
much more useful with a little reforging, as it is, those items end up
in the bin most of the time. With so many randomised stat items where
you can't just farm one particular item, it's hard to get the stats
you most want :-/

Thanks. Shortly after writing that post it occurred to me that this was
probably the case.

In the olden days of WoW, when youse set up a gear set to automagically
switch gears because you need to switched specs. Did you have to
carry around all the gears in your bags?

Blizzard wouldn't let you reforge primary stats for some reason.
