Topper McNabb ouside the AH in SW tells everybody that he suddenly can
see. And he does that once every minute. Thats good for him. :) But
is there an addon that blocks, ignores, filters or mutes specific NPCs
from my chat window?

Hah, I'd love that! I'm not aware of one, sadly; there's a few NPCs
who spam a bit much (Sha of Anger comes to mind...), although at least
Blizz tend to tone down the more excessive zonewide yells after a few
complaints. If someone does know of one I may install it myself, if
you can pick which NPCs to block.

Great idea, I'd certainly use that addon if someone makes it. Back in TBC I
would have loved to be able to block Griftah in Shattrath city...

I have seen the light of google and now have the aura of genius
for about 2 minutes
there are a number but I have not tried them
as usual anything on the net about wow has a short expiry

http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/npc-silencer-international/
seems not user configurable but should quiet things a bit

http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/be-quiet/
old dynamic could work, or not

I found NPC silencer as well, but couldnt download it via the curse
client. It just hang at 0% and I never bothered with downloading the
files manually. But I also found:

I dunno if it works as I havent been near the game for 2-3 days now.

At least http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/goml/ uses names for hackability

the zip for silencer downloads fine, and should be hackable but doesn't look
selectable

thats topper http://www.wowhead.com/npc=1402

The problem with being user ignorable is much like YESNO query ignores.
What is a good idea for one is a bad idea for another or 99.9% of the time
it is a nuisance but 0.1% of the time you really wished it was there.

I would go towards the be-quiet, silence after first say , per logon

It would be preferrable if npc ignore/restore was builtin , and if gold was
free :-)

This one works. I just had to check Block City NPCs somewhere in the
settings. No more bread for sale or Topper McNabb! =)

my chat window?
No. But there is a way....

Here is how my chat windows are setup

1: General
/1 /2 /3 and all other built in channels
NPC, emotes, and /yell.
(also rep gains and some other things I can't move even though
I should be able to)

2: Combat (ignored, can't disable it)

3: Party
/say /raid /instance /party and all related.
other chat channels

4: Guild
All the /Guild related channels
/say and some other chat channels

5: 1UP (pullout)
Every gain of xp, items, rep, etc. However, the game ignores my
setting and always sends rep to window 1, so that sucks. Also,
some item pickup and quest completion/pickup go to 1 no matter
what. On the other hand, I am pretty much done with rep gains
for now (I have 57 or 58 exalted, and I have 0 revered. My next
highest is the ICC rep, which I may grind out by soloing ICC
up to the second boss.

Tab 5 is a separate window. Normally, I have 4 active. When I go
into an instance I switch to 3. If I am in a GUILD group, then I
pull 4 out so I have both 3 and 4 visible.

This means that I almsot never see /1 or /2 or /yell (which I consider
to be possibly the best feature of this setup).

It would be nice if WoW worked correctly with reporting rep gains and
some other gains to my "1UP" window, but most of them show up there.
