Alternative way of getting guild signatures -- Will this work?

Since the game is only $5 right now, I was thinking of just buying
four more copies and starting a one man (dwarf) guild myself as I need
more bank space. I have some questions.

1. I need four signatures correct?

2. Can I put all four copies under my BattleNet Account (Five copies
of the game in total) and still have this work with getting my guild
going? Can I log into at least two accounts at the same time on
different computers that are under the same BattleNet account?

3. Can a Level ONE character during the free month join a guild? If
not, what level does the character need to be?

4. Once I buy the digital game through Blizzard, is it active (the
free month I mean) immediately at the point of purchase?

Yep, 5 signatures from 5 accounts total required iirc.

Correct, or even on the same computer - if you struggle a bit then
turn graphics settings down but I can quite happily login to two
characters at the same time under the same battle.net account. Can
also login on separate computers at the same time no problem.

I don't know for sure about the free month, but assuming it acts like
a regular subscription (and I don't see why it wouldn't), then any
level can join a guild/sign a charter.

Afraid that one I don't know.

That being said, if you are *only* doing this for the bankspace guild
and not because you want to multibox, there are cheaper methods: go to
a starting zone (Northshire Abbey is a good bet), and offer to pay
gold for signatures, cheaper than using real money buying 4 more
accounts!

Thank you to you and everyone else who responded.

After a player signs my charter, can they 'unsign' in any way before I
can get my guild active?

I dont think so. But if youre playing on a EU server I can make the
necessary lvl1 chars and help you. :) Write an email to

I am not but thank you for the offer. In truth, my account isn't
active yet, but I am on vacation now and it will be very soon.

I am going to try and get others to sign my charter. I can always
pick up extra copies of the game if that doesn't work out. I just have
to do it before the 1st of the new year before the price goes back up.

I've been away from the game for too long to be up to date on the different
kind of subscriptions and ways to "try out" the game. But in earlier times,
weren't there restrictions on "trial accounts" with regards to max level
(20, I think), whispering people etc? Not sure if there were limits on
joining a guild or not...

Depending on what type of account this would be, some restrictions might
still appy, but as I said, I've been away for too long to be sure.

Cheers

Yep, *trial* accounts are heavily restricted, question is, if a free
month after buying the game is a trial account or not... I suspect
not, because you've paid for the game, while trials are free, but I'm
not 100% sure!

I am guessing you can as well but doesn't someone here know for sure?
If you buy the game, then activate it, can you join a guild during
your first free month?

Well... you could when I bought my second account. But that was in
2006; things may have changed in the last 7 years, so you can't really
rely on my experience ;-)

I decided to just buy multiple copies of the game and do it myself.
$20 + tax in total. I am glad I did. I think it was faster this way.
It was very easy to manage each account. I don't think Blizzard could
have made it go any smoother then it did.

You were right. Even under ONE BattleNet account, they are all treated
as distinct and separate accounts. And you can do it all on one
computer as well. Just alt-tab between the two instances of the game.
My computer was purchased in 2008 and never upgraded so I think just
about anyone could run two copies of the game at once.

And yes, a level one character on the first free month of a paid
account can join a guild! :P

Now I do have one more question. After the first month, how do I get
another character that I create on my main account to join my guild? I
can do it now because I have the other accounts. But how do I do it in
the future when those accounts are inactive? Only two ways I can
think of doing it is activating one of those accounts again for a
month or trust another player with my guild and let him invite my new
character in. Is there a better way?

Afraid not :-( It'd be nice if you could have an account-bound guild
invite you could mail to your alts (account-bound to prevent people
annoying random folk with it, ofc), but so far, no such thing. So a
2nd account or trusted friend is useful there! I've always been glad
to have 2 accounts; I mainly got them due to wanting more than 10
characters, but the benefits of being able to guild invite, form
raidgroups, boost myself through instances etc, etc, are very
worthwhile for a not-very-social person like me.

As long as the game is paid for you should get everything, free time on
a full account makes no difference.

but few here could swear absolutely iron clad on it from recent
experience

The real question is why bother?
All the setting up of accounts, paying real $ when 50 or 100 gold will
buy signatures.
The only point would be if you were going to keep one of them going as
some sort of banker account, lots of bankers on different realms. Even
then it would only start to be worth the effort at 10 or more, probably
many more.

10-20g a signature saves you time and just covers their time, or is a
little lift to a complete first timer. People who can sign know what you
are asking and just get it done.

What are you going to do once you have bankers? spend thousands on
guild bank tabs..the signup is trivial.
Going to a starter zone and asking you will get a lot of trials trying
so more time wasted.

People can sign then unguild, if they are just total ^%$$#%s so just get
another. 10g isn't worth having a fit over.
Start the guild then kick the signers, most will expect that anyway.

Some people keep an alt just to sign for guildies bankers or just as a
community service.
I do it free, can't say if other do but usually the petitioners don't
ask for long. Sign it and that is the last I want to know or hear, maybe
a tanks but no long conversations
If it is guilded on next logon it unguilds.
I got no pay for it anyway so no guild no guilt:-).

sign the charter

I don't think a free character can join a guild regardless of level.
