Twight Grove in Duskwood?

In the center of Duskwood is a valley surrounded by mountains, call the
Twilight Grove. I have never found a way in, nor have I had any quests
lead me there.

Anyone know what is in there, how to get into it, and if I should
bother? (29 pally or 31 warrior)

One of the outdoor world bosses lurks in there. Not a place for for anyone
other than a large raid group of level 60's.

Even watching from a distance is treacherous as he has a large AoE.

More than treacherous. People who hang around in this area while a guild is
trying to raid the dragon are a real problem, because sometimes when you
die, you will hurt the raid in some way. I know with one of them you spawn a
mushroom which does some aoe and kills off the raid. We've had several of
our raids griefed by newbies who just wanted to "get a look", and ended
wiping our raid.

I guess I'm now glad I didn't find the way in. :-)

It will be a long time till I have level 60 chars, so I will just leave
that part of the map uncharted for now...

FYI theres a path up that starts near where the road branches south to STV.

OTOH, it is possible to ride past him without aggroing him and get to
the portal. I suppose I should have tried to see what (if anything) was
behind the portal when I was there.

Nothing is behind the portal, nor is anything behind the other three
portals just like it, elsewhere in the world (Bough Shadow in
Ashenvale, Dream Bough in Feralas, and the fourth I can never
remember). It's a flat wall about a foot behind the swirly portal.

The reason for this is that those portals are apparently one-way: into
Azeroth. They are portals from the Emerald Dream, given that all four
dragons are corrupted Lieutenants of Ysera.

Personally, I like going in there to hear what the dragons say; each
one has a different battle cry, and they reveal interesting things
about each one's personality (for instance, Lethon is deluded into
thinking his corruption makes him more righteous; Taerar has chosen to
revel in her corruption; I haven't seen Emeriss or Ysondre's cries).
When someone aggros them, they /yell this cry to the entire zone.

My wife has taken to teasing newbies who make their way into Twilight
Grove.

The only thing that happens in there is the occasional spawning of one
of the four green dragons (Lethon, Emeriss, Ysondre and Taerar), which
are outdoor raid bosses.

Since these dragons are a tough fight for a raid group of 40 level 60
players, you're not going to have a pleasant time of it if you stumble
across one of them. :-D

Cheers!

I seem to recall hearing of someone teleporting one into the middle of

Dunno, but somebody once dragged Lord Kazzak* to Stormwind - there is
a rather famous movie of him owning the entire city. :)

The GMs had to bring the server down to get rid of him, and they
issued a few warnings/bans to the people who had dragged him there. He
was later put on a leash so that he would reset after being pulled a
certain distance, and thus the feat can't be repeated.

*Lord Kazzak - outdoor raid boss in Blasted Lands, goes into supreme
mode after being engaged in combat for over 5 minutes. When in supreme
mode shoots ~1000 damage shadowbolts at anybody and everybody in line
of sight in ~100 yards range. Also, heals about 1/4 of his health
whenever he kills anybody.

They didn't need a server reset when someone pulled him on Thunderhorn. GM
just came in and despawned him.

In the center of Duskwood is a valley surrounded by mountains, call the
Twilight Grove. I have never found a way in, nor have I had any quests
lead me there.
Which is good, because if you attack what's in there (the path to it is to
the south, and fairly well hidden), you'll quickly become a stain on the
wall. REALLY quickly. It's worth scouting out the path just to look
though. If you want to try to kill it, bring along 39 of your best friends,
if they're level 60 and well equipped.

Behind the impressive guardian is a portal that doesn't go anywhere yet. *

Bah, it's not that dangerous. Go have a look. Chances are there is no
dragon, but even if there is, you can see him from 200+ yards away and
with a tiny amount of care you won't aggro.

It's not dangerous at all if you stay well back, I didn't mean to imply
that it was dangerous. Attacking it, now that would be dumb. I doubt you
could run out of range before being fried - it seems to have an attack
range of about triple what a player has. And yes, I know this from
experience. *

It's definitely worth a visit if you're prepared to die :-) I did it around
level 30, when one of my guild buddies asked me for help killing a dragon. I
had never been there before and had no clue. Once I got there and saw what
we were up against I prepared to depart but my buddy could not resist the
temptation to attack. We were dead before I could take off my armour. Still
worth the visit, though.

Cheers
