Herb Tracking: Can you configure it?

Anyone know if herb tracking can be configured? I'm in Zangamarsh
right now and I keep picking up those stupid mushrooms you can collect
for Sporeggar rep on my radar. I would just like to track herbs I can
level from or are useful to me (like dreaming glory, felweed, etc).

Thanks.

i feel your pain. everytime i get near that area i think "cool a place
that's not overfarmed" then i realize ......

outdoors thats pretty much the only place where you have this additional
herbs.

Tell me about it! Cartographer has a filter feature that lets you hide
icons for certain items, but it doesn't stop the gold button from coming
up. Since I have very complete herb data for zangamarsh, I assume that any
herb icon that pops up without a circle around it is stupid glowcap. *

Good call, I'll look for the circle more often.

I believe Gatherer can do some sort of filtering too...

If I remember right, you can hide the glowcap icons (not the button mind
you) from the filter in "treasure", not "Herbalism". Once you do that,
provided all your other herbs are well scouted, you can ignore buttons that
pop up without a range circle around them. *

The only other thing I have to ask is why Zangarmarsh? Sure, it has
blindweed and golden sansam and dreamfoil, but I started herbing in
that zone and made very little on the AH from those 3 herbs. Its also
the only place to gather ragviel but I also got very little gold for
that. Felweed, dreaming glory, and ghost mushrooms are the only herbs
I was able to gather in that zone that brought in a decent profit.

Its easy to farm that zone, seeing as its very flat and is flush with
herbs, but a majority of what I collected there didn't really bring me
much money.

Lately I've been trying to farm Shadowmoon Valley for nightmare vine,
but its starting to look like the time spent vs profit might not be
worth it. Might try netherstorm next with netherbloom, see if that
more worth the effort.

Now that pure death has replaced supreme power, I no longer have much use
for dreamfoil unless I decide to use a stack of arcane elixirs instead of
shadow power on easy raid night. Zangamarsh is a terrific place for felweed
though, should you have recently gone nuts making potions and ran low
(generally, I have more than I know what to do with. Them demons seem to
poop everywhere!). The other herb youcan find there with some value is
dreaming glory, but it's much more plentiful elsewhere (especially on
plateaus).

I'm going to be glad I held onto ragveil with the next patch - the mad
alchemist's potion uses it.

Nightmare vine is very valuable - it's used in wizard oils, and a number of
flasks and potions. With a flyer it's quite easy to farm.

Likewise. a stack of either sells for 20g+. *

Yeah, I flew around on my slow flying mount looking for nightmare vine
for a while and ended up with not even a full stack. Seems
netherbloom was much more plentiful, but I am in the process of trying
to grind out the last 2 Shadowmoon Valley group quest I have left in
my log, so while looking for a group I have been flying around there
picking herbs. After those 2 group quests though, its off to
Netherstorm for a while, to gather herbs there and finish off the
bunch of group quests I have there.

Nightmare vine is very plentiful. If you don't have a good cartographer
database for shadowmoon valley, it may take a while to find though - it's
mostly concentrated around places where the legion is active, but I've even
found some just outside the gates of the faction cities.

An hour's lazy circling over the spawn points will net you at least a stack
and possibly more if you get lucky with the spawns and get more than one
piece. In my experience it's about as plentiful as netherbloom. *

Like I said, just got cartographer. Still playing around with it and
trying to work out some of the issues I've been having. It also
doesn't help that I sometimes play on my wife's laptop where I don't
have cartographer installed.

One thing that you can do is run the cartographer data addon that will
import a *lot* of nodes into your database. It's on www.wowace.com/files.
I ran it the other day and I have so many nodes that I had to turn off
minimap tracking :)

steve.kaye

P.S. It also changed my options for Cartographer and the alternate
map key doesn't seem to work anymore. I'm not really bothered but if
you are then you should be wary of installing the data addon.

I just installed cartographer a few days ago and for about 95% of the
glowcap I came across, it had an actual glowcap icon letting me
distinguish between glowcap and actual herbs. There were still a few
glowcap that didn't come up with that icon though, so its not entirely
dependable.

I currently run MetaMap. Can I use both Cartographer and MetaMap

For those farming excursions there is an excellent plugin for
Cartographer called Carto_Routes.
You tell it which herb, mine to track, and it traces a path over your map
and minimap, connecting all known spots in one zone with the shortest
way possible.
ps: You must click 'optimize path' in order to let le mod calculate the
best way.

Holy hell, a Warcraft UI mode managed to solve the Traveling Salesman
Problem in polynomial time?

NB: It's not the shortest way possible.

Thank you! Works wonderful together with the Wowhead Cartographer

I posted a topic on the EU forums (and also on my guilds internal forum):

Nobody responded to the thread, guess they are worried about keyloggers,
but all my links are to the wowace site.
