I only have 270 on my lockpicking. I have been picking pockets in OL
(sorry its just my way LOL)
but all of them are 300
So I went to the area of baskets in southern Zangar and 300

ok back to work got to get it to 300
I found this guide online that I can run and do for a while when I got
back to train.
============================
The best place to raise your skill from 250 to 300 is in Blackrock
Depths. Simply go in, turn to the left and unlock the Shadowforge
Gate. Continue forward and take the first right, picking the next
Shadowforge Gate. Pick the first door on the left, the East Garrison
Door, and head forward staying on the bottom level. If you are level
60 or above, pick the large wooden object sticking out of the ground
below the giant gear,
============================
thats 4 and you can reset 5 times an hour can't you?
so 20 points in an hour is ok... don't know if these doors start
failing before 300 or not.

ok is this the entrance in steppes or searing?
I don't remember but one door but its been a LONG time since I was
there.

Its between Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes, in Blackrock Mountain.
Blackrock Mountain is essentially a zone in itself, but has no map.
Once inside, you have to run down a chain, then through some
underground tunnels, work your way past a bunch of dwarves and finally
to the instance.

Well this is NOT where I went before. I guess I have never been there.
matter of fact I am not sure if you can get there from here LOL

I looked on the net for how to get to this. Its funny they show a
picture of 2 massive blocks with an opening between them as the
entrance. And it says you can enter from burning steeps across a
bridge to blackrock mountain.
BUT under the pic it says this is the entrance from searing gourge.

Sorry I hit the wrong button ...double post.
So will either entrance take me to the same place, looking at the map
it just shows a hole (I assume the chain down) and entrance on each
side. So to get to the doors I run down the chain?

You don't have to run down the chain, you can drop over the edge into
a vertical groove that you can see in front of you as you come into
the zone from the north. Then walk backwards out of that groove back
the way you came, and you'll land at the bottom of the chain next to
Lothos (the Molten Core guy). I got plenty of practice doing this on
corpse runs into MC, so I didn't risk getting fried in the lava by
getting it wrong, though!

I advise people to make use of google groups and search this newsgroup
for information. It's often got what you want. For instance, I made a
post just recently about this subject. IMO the best place to skill lock
picking to 300 is in Tanaris Lostrigger Cover. There are plenty of
lockboxes around, and you can pick pocket the pirates for chances of a
junkbox.

Got home and did a search and found your post.
I can't do that at work(oh wait I dont do that kind of thing at work)
OK IT WAS LUNCH TIME

anyway you said this

I pickpocketed the pirates, and lock picked the junk boxes lying
around. This post is just to recommend this area if anyone is looking
for somewhere to level your skill from the 225 - 300 range. Sure, it
was tedious, it took me 1.5 hours to get to 300, but it wasn't hard.
However, I probably had an easier time because I am a dwarf so the
find treasure racial was invaluable to locate the junk boxes.

all of this in pirates cove?
Never saw any junk boxes lying around...BUT I NEVER LOOKED EITHER LOL

Will run over there when I got to train.
Man thats a long way but worth it if it helps.

Found out why the area is not listed for skillup in the guides that
are online.

Tanaris Desert [Dented Footlocker] 225 250 275

they go green at 275
Did you skill up on them are pocket items?

All this talk of lockpicking has inspired me to start a rogue. It's really
the only reason I'd play that class, and I'm always shocked when I run into
a rogue who has no lockpicking skill.

Alas, now the hard part: Picking a name, a race, and a look. (Will be
Alliance on PvE.) If I go female, I'd like her to fit in my theme of
musically-related names.

What about a dwarf ? Since you're after lock to pick (and treasure), their
racial to display chests on the minimap is very handy.

I started a dwarf rogue in the past, just never liked playing her. Didn't
think about the treasure skill, though, and that would definitely
complement the lock picking.

I've now started Clarinet, a human rogue. (Clarinets seem to require
complicated fingering.)

Erk, I don't have the best memory, but I would have researched the
issue before I went there. I remember thinking that running an
instance and having to wait for reset timers etc would take too long.
Anyway, I am almost 100% sure I skilled right up to 300 on the [Dented
Footlocker].

I could be wrong, but the reason I thought this was because I think I
had a number of junkboxes in my bags waiting for 300 skill to open (my
max skill was about 305 at that stage). I'm pretty sure I went to 300
on the footlockers and then the other 5 points on the junkboxes in my
bags.

I just read your other post on how you skilled up and besides being
time consuming it sounds easy. If I had to do it again I'd consider
doing it that way as I could always log out and play another character
while I waited for the isntance reset.

(Btw, It would be easier if you bottom posted, keeps things in context
so further readers know what we're talking about).

ok it might not be the fastest but here is how I got to 303.

The gates from lock modan to searing gorge are 2 points.
the doors in blackrock are 1 each. The first time I did 4.
exit and reset instance.
Then I realized that the first 2 gates take less than a minute, while
getting to the other doors with stealth detect mobs and 51 elites that
are 3 and 4 at a time was too much work.

so 2 doors, reset....do this 5 times 10 skill
wait 60 minutes 5 more times 10 skill
wait 60 and 10 more skill ups

did this sat evening when I had to eat and some other stuff so I made
303 in about 3 hrs..they go green at 300...so there was time wasted on
testing it to make sure.

overall it was not that big a deal and worth the time. I had 8 heavy
strongboxes so there was 8 more skillups.

now I am at 311 and will go to zangar to open the wickers till ?

What level are you? If you aren't level 70 then don't bother doing
any more levelling until you are. Make sure that you pickpocket every
mob that can be before killing it and you'll get a lot of skillups
that way. I didn't have to do any specific levelling of lockpicking
once I'd got to 300. The strong junkboxes I got whilst levelling got
me all the way to max level and with lots more to spare.

I'm amazed this is a problem. I made a macro which does sap and
pickpocket in one go, and as i sneak about i (mostly) sap and (always)
pick pocket most things i come across, after no time at all i have 5
boxes for the 5 skill ups pr level, and then after that i get a stack of
boxes i might as well open, because on the next level i get 5 in no time
etc.
At every level i'm lock picking capped long before i'm even half way
through the level.
