An ex guildie owes me 100k for the bike mount in SW. I better have to
send a few Horde Angels to his house so I get them before I quit. ^^

I finally got a T3 barn on my druid a few days ago (read my previous
thread). Yesterday morning I finalized my barn on my lock and started
farming elites.
I went to Nagrand again this morning and also found a few Highmaul
Reliqureruywrssh boxes too. Oh well. I decided to check those relics
out on wowhead. Aha. 350 rep for each. BoA. Cool. Farm mode. 34
relics later I sent them to my main (mage) and got him halfway through
honored with the excavation faction.
More elite mob farming. Oh btw. Got 3 bloods from my druids barn this
morning. Zero from my lock's barn. Bleh. I have enough primal spirits
for 14 bloods + 3 from the barn so I can actually upgrade something.
Too lazy. I'm stuck in my garrison because I keep my slaves on their
toes with new missions. Annoying, tedious, repetitive... Checking the
friends list now and then. 90% of the list is sitting in the garrison.
Permanently! Not a good sign. Checking the list with ID friends. A
handful havent logged for the last 7 days. 2 peeps havent logged for 2
weeks. This is 1½ months after WoD went live. And some of those peeps
were online in MoP in several hours every day and they all were looking
very much forward for WoD.
Last night I had a chat with an ex-guildie who has loads of contacts to
persistent HC raiding guilds on a handful of different realms... not so
persistent anymore. Guilds are slowly falling apart. Peeps are simply
quitting due to boredom.

Blizzard wanted us to get out in the world in Draenor. They invented
the garrison so now 90% percent of the playerpool is stuck there as
there is close to zero content outside the walls and we have to keep our
slaves at work.

I think I reinstall Wild Star in the near future. The playerpool may
have grown a lot there lately. No wonder. Wild Star are made by former
employees with leading roles at Blizzard. :)

Btw. I will recommend the Master Plan addon at curse for managing your

Especially now that it gives you up to 3 options for auto-filling each
quest with the best followers: One for max completion %, one for max
xp, and a 3rd that will show you the best option based off of ALL your
followers along with a timer showing how long until that grouping would
be available.

I had a look at that but it looked a bit too comprehensive for me, if
that makes sense - I like to make decisions myself rather than just
click what the addon tells me, even if my own decisions aren't
optimal, it feels more like it's *me* doing it then! Like I never used
reforging optimisers, just did it by eye, more fun, and usually didn't
end up that far off perfect, I'll take being 0.04% away from/over the
hitcap :-)

LE Followers is a great one which I like though, just tells me in a
simple display how many followers I have for each ability counter, so
I know what to look for next (you can also check a box for each ilvl
band so you can see what's worth using follower gear upgrades on,
too). I ended up with 11 (yes, eleven) Danger Zones counters and only
2 Group Damage... and only 4 Deadly Minions, with two of those
perma-assigned to buildings due to being my only followers for those
buildings, doh. So my last two Inn recruits were Group Damage and
Deadly Minions! Still missing a Group Damage Scavenger combo, but at
least two of my Scavengers now have bonus to missions under 6 hours,
so it's 70% chance instead of 50%...

That was the one faction I've actually got to exalted, as hunting
treasure chests and rares turned out to be quite fun! Just a shame
they made factions so pointless, since pets and mounts are
accountwide, there's no reason to do that one on any alts.

I took the lazy approach on that one, primal spirits + auction house,
who needs a barn ;-) Got it on an alt as I need fur for tailoring, but
not bothered on my main and don't think I will, not like upgrading a
max of 3 craftable items at a time will cost that much... at least,
until I start swapping them in and out to suit what non-craftables I
have for other slots, I guess...

Yep. Most my friends were long gone tbh, but 3 returned for WoD, of
those, none do anything much outside of the garrison, other than
worldboss once a week, and old content. Oh, two do garrison invasions
from time to time - when I round them up to help me with *my*
invasions! I'm expecting to be down to just one friend still subbed
fairly soon, and even that one does 10x as much old content as WoD
content... I think he's only subbed for farming old raids for mounts!

I'm afraid I remain very disappointed with the amount of max lvl
content this expansion, I do hope that once the holiday period is over
(next week!) we get some concrete info about 6.1, and that it includes
a lot of the solo open world content that we've been missing. Isle of
Thunder/Dominance Offensive type content is badly needed!

If even the raiders are quitting then ouch. I tend to get the
impression from forums that raider types are happy and it's only
casual types like me who are bored, at least, according to the
"raiding and pvp is the whole game, why do you play if you don't do
them" types... my response to them is that I never needed raiding or
pvp in past expansions to not be bored within 3 weeks of launch!

Yep. I LOVE the garrison as a minigame, but there's so little reason
to leave it after you're done levelling. Now that I've finished the
stables dailies, I have (in Draenor, got plenty older content to do,
but, that's not WoD, is it...):

Apexis dailies, well, I maxed the only item slot that's worth getting
(legs), rest have rubbish stats. So ok, I can farm a few more for
pets, wow. I do them for the sake of it most days since at least it
procs invasions now and again, but I now skip the ones I like less
(Skettis, arrgghhhh, whoever designed that one needs to be forced to
complete it on a high pop server and then redesign it)

Garrison campaign weekly: all of them are too short and too low on
actual cohesive story so far, not very interesting. Fills an hour a
week, max.

World bosses: Two available, but you can only do one a week. Nice, so,
that's 10 mins a week filled? Maybe 20 if you count standing around
waiting for the group to fill up...

Repgrinding: did the one fun faction, the rest are vanilla style
grinds, eh, I'll pick them up as I do the Apexis dailies, I guess. Oh
and 4 factions total, we usually have 8+ to work on... and no, I do
not count my bodyguards as factions, that's just even more mindless
grinding.

Archaeology: still fun for a bit, but never a major part of my
content, just something I do now and again for a change. Also I need
to grind to max one of those vanilla style factions to be able to
refresh my digsites and I'm stuck with a few which are a total pain.

Pet Battles, like Arch, fun some of the time, but not as my main
content; I've caught one of everything, all that's left is upgrading a
few to rare and levelling up a bunch... and I already have over 100
max lvl pets, so really, not a priority.

Professions: haha. Past expansions I'd happily spend ages mining, then
even longer in front of the auctioneers crafting and selling! This
time: no use mining, I've got an overload of ores (donated 1k True
iron to a friend the other day to start him off on blacksmithing!),
and thanks to huge reduction in sockets, green gems are worthless, and
blue gems thanks to the 2-3 day cd requirement are priced so high that
they don't sell either. All I can do is make blue rings to send to my
enchanter to convert to dust. Professions are dead :-(

So... any reasons I've missed to actually leave my garrison and go out
in the world?

Sorry for the wall of text but argh, they seem to have made the
outside world as unattractive as possible this time, which is SO
disappointing when I look at the awesome zone design, and the great
stories we got while levelling; there is so much potential for fun and
interesting areas, but it just stops.

For all that a year of SoO sucked, releasing WoD too early with half
the end content missing wasn't a good solution either, they'd have
done better coming up with a Ruby Sanctum type patch to tide people
over for a bit longer... as it is, that 3 million who came back, won't
be seeing much reason to stick around, nor to return again in the
future :-/

I quite like garrisons but they weren't the game I hoped for.
Very little feeling of player input, no real design freedom or sense of
building something.
I don't mind pointless grinding, it just seems there isn't even much
point now, or it is behind too many gates.
I just don't have the huge chunks of time, or the regular little bits of
time, or the reactions , to play much of wow now.

Lately I have booted up Dungeon Keeper original running on dos box, and
a few other oldies.
DK from 1997 and still more distracting than most of wow that I can play.
Though limited playability more fun for a while.

There is a recent app modelled after DK, it is rubbish.

I have a few others, I just love builder/garrison games.
I happily spend hours filling/revealing/obliterating all appropriate
points on the maps, no rush since it will end eventually.

Sub ended monday noon. I never found new things to do. But I managed
to rep up 2 chars with the excavation dudes in Nagrand. Lock farmed
relics and soloed elite rares. Pewpew with a void tank. Relics and
drops from the rares was sent to my mage who got exalted with the
faction in 3 days. My lock hit revered. I got a new follower on both
chars.
Well. As I quitted the last guild due to elitist n00bness (the
raidleader claimed he knew everything about every class and spec...) I
considered doing norms and hcs through openraid. Well. Instead I
decided to grant the game time to my real life. So now I sit with some
sort of "oh I cant take care of my little baby slaves in the garrison!"
feeling. Thats fine. They need to starve. :)

Hehe! I might try normal through the premade group finder sometime,
just have a suspicion most groups will be the elitist types that won't
accept people who don't already have 7/7 heroic (for normal!), that's
the usual type of thing and why I never pug raids. As a healer I have
a higher chance than a dps class would though, so would probably get
there eventually, if I can be bothered!

Heh, SimCity, did that ever actually become playable in the end? I
stopped following the updates after a while, keep meaning to give it
another go but EA screwed it up bigtime which kinda put me off.

I've been playing Diablo 3 again recently, wish they'd hurry up and
end the season, as my seasonal and non-seasonal character when put
together would give me a fair decent gear set, but I can't combine
them till the season ends, bah! I can't manage to play it hardcore and
get tons of gear, some of the people I see on forums are just
mindboggling, tons of different versions of items I've not even seen
once, for example. Going to slaughter a bunch of demons when I'm bored
is fun though and Blizz certainly greatly improved it from the
original release, I only hope they can manage to work the same magic
on WoD...

Im playing the latest Sim City (is it called 2013?). It has loads of

times a week. Its relaxing game and I sgtart a new city almost every

Btw. You can download SC2000 for free through Origin for a limited time.
130MB. I got my copy yesterday.

Nice, only 646 here but then I've not done normal at all so getting
this high is decent so quickly; only one blue item remaining, garrison
missions just refuse to give me a chestpiece, despite many
shoulders/necks/trinkets from them! If one doesn't drop from LFR this
week I'll craft one, since I manage to replace my crafted shoulders
with a 655 from the Highmaul garrison mission, I've got a free crafted
item slot again (using trinket+ring at present) - getting my tailor
and scribe through to the garrison stage was a good decision for
gearing, I think :-)

I stopped bothered with wing 1 when I got most loot from it, but still
do wing 2 as that actually offers a bit of challenge to a healer, much
more fun :-) Having read a guide to the final boss on normal mode, I'm
kinda hoping that's toned down a bit for LFR, it sounds quite
complicated for an uncoordinated pug!

2 years and they've still not fixed the bugs, that doesn't surprise me
:-P Bugs were why I stopped playing, since it was very hard to really
get far, although if you start a new city each time it's much better
lol. I kept finding advanced stuff was bugged out and broke my city,
and the traffic, oh dear the traffic was bad, I do hope that has been
improved!

Heh SC2000, that sounds old! I had SC3000 as my first SimCity game and
even that refused to work on more modern PCs several years back so
2000 must've needed quite a bit of work on it to make it actually
function! I'll pick that up if I remember :-)

Talking of SimCity reminds me of another game I played a year or so
ago, need to get back to it: Banished - citybuilding, but starting
from scratch in an uninhabited land, needing to find food and ways to
keep warm in winter, was pretty fun :-)

Thats the one, I rarely use Steam so got my copy on a standalone site
but same game :-) I recall it had a few bugs/irritations, but mostly
was very polished, especially considering it's a one-man development
team, was very fun. I meant to play it a lot more but got distracted
by some other game (probably D3 Reaper of Souls, looking at the time
it was released) and forgot to go back - I just downloaded the latest
patch though so will have another go in the next few days I think :-)

I've been playing Diablo 3 again recently
I've also played Diablo 3 on and off before my two brief returns to WoW.
Anohter game that one of my guildies had recommended years ago and which I
finally got around to playing this autumn was "The Witcher" (part 1). It can
be downloaded for 10 bucks or so and I got a fair bit of playing time out of
it. I really liked how you get to decide how the story unfolds through your
choices and the story line is really cool. A bit sexist maybe, the main
character gets to sleep around a lot, depending on your choices (though
there are fairly tame images to hide the action), don't know if that would
put you off it, if you're a woman...

Still, despite this I would recommend the game as a story well told.

I've heard part 2 is not nearly as good, haven't decided yet if I want to
play it or not. At the moment real life takes too much time anyway, so I'm
not currently playing anything much.

Cheers

Its easy to bug a new SC game at an early point. But lately (the last
6-8 months actually) I have started building up cities slooooooowly by
following "the rules" in an exact way.
Laying down the right roads starting out with low-density roads and keep
those for a lang time and _then_ upgrading a little piece of a
low-density road slooooowly bit by bit and then watching the buildings
getting upgraded slooowly is one of the elements. 2r1c1i is another
element. And it actually seems to work. :)
