Walk From Ashenvale to Stonetalon Peak????

I can't remember exactly how those roads in western/SW Ashenvale went.

Is it possible to walk to the Peak and get the Hypogriff path? The Peak
is where the roost is, correct?

If I recall, the road near the Master's Claive headed SW and I thought
I saw that it can go to StoneTalon. I just took a quick look under the
influence of fatigue and went back save the Lost Master in the cave.

Need more quest areas and places to feel free and live the life of
Reilly.

There is a tunnel that connects Ashenvale and Stonetalon Mts. On the
Stonetalon side it comes out in Windshear Crag.

Was that tunnel down the road from the Master's Glaive or is it south
of Astranaar?

Is there a guantlet to get by?

I have no idea what the Master's Glaive is. Must be an Aliiance thing?

From the Ashenvale side, the path is called "Talondeep Path". It's on
the map, slightly east of Mystral Lake. That makes it roughly south of
Astranaar, and west of Stardust Ruins.

There are no mobs in the cave at all. But you'll see normal mobs on
either side milling about (spiders on the Stonetalon side, bears on the
Ashenvale side).

Note: the main quest NPC for Windshear Crag is a Goblin, so both
factions will be there. Plus I think (?) he sends you to Ratchet at
least once. He has a hut on the other side of the Crag that you should
go right by it if you're taking the road up to Stonetalon Peak.

Don't take the wrong fork in the road, btw. "Sunrock Retreat" sounds
like a nice vacation spot, but the Horde there won't give you a very
warm welcome.

Once in the Stonetalon Mountains, go southwest to the fork in the road,
then northwest all the way to Stonetalon Peak. There is a hippogryph
master there, as well as an inn and a few vendors, but very few quests
at this time (it's only had a working inn since 1.12, and an inn period
since 1.11, so I don't think it'll be long before there are at least a
few more quests there). The flight path does connect to Astranaar.

Master's Glaive is a small ravine in Darkshore with a bunch of Twilight
Cultists, a very unhappy dryad quest-giver, and the remnants of the
corpse of one of C'thun's contemporaries. The path to Stonetalon is
nowhere near it. Both roads from southern Darkshore just lead into
northwestern Ashenvale, at slightly different spots.

Alliance questgivers for the area are a gnome and night elf Sentinel
just northwest of the fork in the road nearest Windshear Crag.

The tunnel is no where near the Master's Glaive, that is in Darkshore.
The tunnel is SE of Astraanar in Ashenvale.

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/mapset.html?zone=1001&type=-Basemap&size=Large

It is in the middle of the map and is called Talondeep Path.

As for a gauntlet, not really. There are 20-25 (iirc) bears on the
Ashenvale side and slightly lower spiders and humanoids on the Stontalon
Side.

The rest of the directions are accurate.

Enjoy.

Please see the part of my quoted post that I've now emphasized with
asterisks. I'd already said that, but I was describing what Master's
Glaive was for the benefit of the person who said they didn't know what
Master's Glaive was.

Excellent! When I last quested there (to do the logging camp quest chain)
it was quite frustrating that there was no inn nearby.

Now if they'd just put a grave yard in Charred Vale. Getting ganked there
is no fun at all when you look at how far you have to run to recover your
body.

You don't *have* to run all the way north to the lake and then west
and south into the Charred Vale. You can instead run across the road
from the graveyard into Sunrock Retreat and follow the horde path up
through the mountains and down the other side. It's far shorter. The
horde guards don't attack ghosts. ;)

A bunch of us like to vacation there in groups after cleaning out the
Horde mess. ;-)

It's south of Astranaar, slightly to the east as well if I remember
rightly. No real gauntlet to get by, there's normal mobs (mid-20s bears and
the like) on the way to the tunnel, and more normal mobs (high-teens
venture co humanoids and spiders) on the Stonetalon side, but the tunnel
itself is clear as far as I remember, and the areas either side are just
normal areas with single wandering mobs, not whole groups.

Before taking the tunnel, stop at the retreat on the north shore of Mystral
Lake. That's where you buy the Expert Cookbook. You can also buy a limited
supply alchemy recipe from the vendor which is needed to make the cloth
gloves Hands of Darkness.

Horde should look in this area for Ursangous:

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/mob.html?wmob=12678

He's the lowest level of the 3 critters you need to kill for The Ashenvale
Hunt at Splintertree Outpost. The others are Shadumbra and Sharptalon:

Kill all 3, get a nice cape:
