Discussion:
Head of Broodlord Lashlayer - Proxy of Nozdormu and Scepter shards

Hey all,

How does the Proxy of Nozdormu work? I'm guessing I just target someone and
use it on them, and they will then be able to collect the silithid carapace,
right? What I'm wondering is, since they will be my "deputy" will the
carapace be tied to me in some way, or can my "deputy" just go around
collecting them and then turn it in themselves once they get the head of the
broodlord and turn it in?

Second question is the scepter shards. I saw the little animation near the
gates of AQ (very nicely done by the way) and then went to talk to
Anachronos in Caverns of time. He told me to seek out the three dragons, but
didn't give a quest for it. Is this the part where I have to talk to
Vaelastraz before we engage him in combat and then clear BWL in 5 hours? Or
do I have to do something else first?

TIA

Right.

No.

Yes.
They are as tradable as runecloth, so you can even give them to
somebody who doesn't even have the quest - not that that would do
anything, but still. :)

He told you to seek out Vaelastraz, Azuregos, and Eranticus.

Vael is simply to go into BWL, speak to Vael while he is still lying
on the floor, and then clear the rest of BWL in less than 5 hours.
Note; the timer starts as you accept the quest from Vael, and several
people can speak to him and get the quest, but Nef only drops one
shard regardless.

For Azuregos you go talk to him (or his ghost) in Aszhara - that
starts you on a big questline that takes you all over the world in
search of stuff like 500-pound chickens, 8 pages from a dictionary,
and some googles. You also get to talk to a meremaid, swim faster than
an epic horse can run, and fight a giant minnow* called Maws. :D

Finally you can go see Eranticus in Sunken Temple. This leads you to
the green dragon portals, where you have to kill lots of the elites
that patrol the area in the hope that they finally drop the shard
piece you need (one from each portal - and I hear they have a very low
droprate). Well, you need to farm three of the portals - at the
Duskwood one you instead have to bring a raid to kill a Satyr
raidboss.
Then when you have the four shard pieces you can start an event where
the corrupted Eranticus invades Moonglade, so beat him and his helpers
down and grab the last shard off of him.

And that's it. :p

*Minnow = something like this;

Right.
My experience is that once you are Neutral rep you can't turn in any
more.

It sounds like you've been there before. How many do you need in a
group to farm the small dragons at the 3 portals?

These 8 book pages are interesting. One of them is in Stormwind and
one is in Undercity - meaning there will be a little bit of contested
interaction in the quest line. I took my Troll to Undercity to recon
where the page is, then my Gnome ran in through the back door and rode
all the way through the mage quarter mounted. He could have hearthed
home if only he had a Soulstone at the time...

Dunno, never did that part of the quest - only time I have killed any
is when we go to kill a green dragon and we have to clear the area. I
can say that they die easily enough with 40 man though... :3

My guild had only progressed to Vael when the AQ gates got opened, so
now we mostly just do the easy or fun parts - and by all accounts I
have heard, then the portal farming is an activity that takes hours as
the drops are >1% drops or there about...
It would be fun to get to do the "invasion of Moonglade" part some
time, but I would have to work hard just to motivate myself to farm
those elites for hours on end - not to speak of getting a group from
the guild to help me.
Perhaps I can try to solo farm it after I ding 70?

Bah! :(

I have 7 of 8 + binder in the bank, and we don't really run MC anymore
so my chances of getting the one from Rag are getting slim...
Bloddy waste of bank space. >_<

That's part of it. There are several shards that need to be collected.
I haven't started all the parts yet, but I did talk to the shade of
Azuregos in Azshara.

You know, I've never proxied anyone. My understanding is that once proxied,
they get the 1 rep per kill, but they have to give you the carapaces to
turn in.

Nope, that's it. Once you have the quests, the three dragons will suddenly
have a ! over them the next time you encounter them (fortunately, you can
do this with just the shade of Azuregos). You don't talk to Vael (that's a
great way to really tick people off!), but you accept a quest from him.
From that point on, Nefarian will periodically yell at you from his throne,
giving you some idea how much time you have left. *

Nope, they just become able to loot the carapaces - the carapaces can
then be traded freely. You don't have to give them to the person who
proxied you either, you can give them to anybody on the quest for them
to turn in.
But unless you loot the broodlord head, get to the turn in quest, and
start turning them in for yourself you won't get any rep from the
carapace collection.

That's really what I meant - proxies can't do the turnin.

Ouch. I didn't realize they didn't get the point either. It really ghives
you a lot of respect for the insane people who actually did the gate
opening - the brood rep part (trivial once the gate is opened) is an insane
grind. *
